Rotorua

Hello my friends, so I have to summarize a little bit our days in Rotorua. Okay, first of all, I will definitely remeber Rotorua as the city of rain. From the first day we arrived it rained most of all the days.Additionally the Campsite have had a poor equipment and nearly no community rooms. At least the showers were well cleaned and could be recommended. As I told I did have a bad cold with a cough and a running nose. Combined with the bad weather in Rotorua it didn't get any better during our Read more [...]

Hot Water Beach – Part 2

After my last English Blog entry, I will summarize the events that took place a little bit. After we went to Whangarai Leia's knee was getting better every day. We visited Treasure Island Motorhome and stayed there together with our friends from switzerland for a couple of days. Including a very, very good track upon the hill and swimming and fishing. From there we went over Orewa back to Auckland, because we had to swap the Campervan to our bought car. When we arrived at Auckland we first Read more [...]

A day at the doctors or Russell’s Medical Centre Visit

As I mentioned in last geman blog entry, Leia did have an accident while we were attending the Waitangi Treaty Ground. After two days we decided to see a doctor. Okay, to be precise, see several doctors. Now we have learned something about the following abbreviations: ACC, MCL, GP. You don't kow what these are? Let me tell ya. ACC is the NZ Accident Cover Insurance. Even if you are a foreigner, if you have an accident, you will not be charged. I knew this before we went to NZ, but I hoped Read more [...]

-- English -- Hi guys, we have been to Rainbow Falls, at the falls you could see a real rainbow. After that we was at the Maori museum. There you could see things, Read more [...]

From Muriwai to Opononi

We covered in the last days a little bit of distance. From Piha Beach we went to Muriwai. The campsite was very good as the council of Muriwai decided to demolish all the old shower and toilet buildings and build completely new restrooms and showers and everything else. The campsite has opened in Feb 2017 so everything was really new. Near to that campsite was a beautiful beach, where a lot of kite surfers could be seen. Although the sea is dangerous at that place. A few weeks ago a kite Read more [...]

Kowhai and the Trees

With our campervan we stayed the night at the Arataki Visitor Centre at Waikatere Rangers Park. Unfortunetaly the domestic battery has got some problems, so we had only electricity when the engine was running. In the morning it was really raining cats and dogs. So used the time to visit the Visitor Centre. Inside there was a beautiful art gallery with an exhibition of an NZ artist and the story of Kowhai. With very good crafted situations made out of paper and the right illumination the Read more [...]

All good things

Okay, next chapter closed. I do have a bank account. Now we're nearly ready for take off. Tomorrow we will pick up the Campervan / Motorhome and then move around the Northern part of New Zealand. Besides setting up an account was one thing to do this day. But we also did some sightseeing in Auckland. From the reports they all said, drivinig in Auckland is awkward. No it is not. If you're used to cities like Cologne or Munich, you will find out that traffic here in NZ is a little bit different. Read more [...]

Left, left, left

I'm feeling like a kid having a new toy. But you have to concentrate really a lot. And you really often use the wiper instead of the intended indicator. But we'll learn that. Renting a car in NZ is much cheaper than in germany. for 4 days I paid round about 70 Euros. In germany I'd have to pay that for a single day. This is how the car looks like: and that's what we're gonna get on Friday: Read more [...]

on our Way to NZ

Wow, 16h flight. The plane was very full and a lot of kids/toddlers onboard. So for humanity it is very good to see so many children, but not for trying to sleep onboard a plane. Unfortunetaly the night before there has been also only 4h of sleep. This flight was really exhausting. All of the kids were playing nearly 14 hours video games or watched movies. Maybe it is our fault, when at home, they are NEVER allowed to watch so many movies within weeks. So they absolutely used their one and only chance Read more [...]
