What a night. Sometime in the middle of the night it began pouring down and it never stops. When I wake up at around 7.30 am it is still raining. I`ll start reading a book.
At 9 am all the others are awake too and we have a breakfast in the campervan. We have found a freedom campsite in Eltham right next to the library.
At 10:30 am we start our journey for today. Because it is raining so much, we decide to drive to New Plymouth and visit a museum and go for a swim in the Aquatic Centre.

In the morning I wake up early. I make myself some tea and watch the sunrise over the desert plains. It is an awesome view, although it is really cold. 5 degree Celsius are not much. The kids are still asleep so I enjoy these precious moments in the morning.
Manuela joins me around 8am and then we decide to let the kids sleep and move on while they are sleeping. We drive the desert road and watch the beautiful landscape. Unfortunetaly Mount Ruapehu and his companions stay in the clouds.

So, this is the day. We have to leave finally.
The kids slept in the campervan and we had the whole batch for us alone. In the morning I prepare the breakfast for the last time in the batch. I hope it looks nice, with the last remnants of our black, red, yellow napkins.
After breakfast we pack the last things into the campervan and have look back at the place we called home now for seven month. Luke helps us to do the final dishes.

The picture to the right shows our travels from our house in Waikawa Beach. For a weekend trip we went to New Plymouth.

After yesterday we were a bit tired. But we didn`t have the time to sleep-in. Marg and Blue (our friends who did so much for us over the last months) will go over the weekend to their relatives. So if we want to see them before we leave we have to get up early.
Together with May we went to them at 8.30 am for a cup of coffee and a chat. It was very nice to see them again. Around 9.20 we have to go to Levin and say Goodbye to our dear friends. We will miss them and we hope we see them again.

Wir stehen gemütlich auf und frühstücken mit May und Luke gemeinsam. Heute ist kein Homeschooling angesetzt, weil wir ja einen Ausflug nach Wellington machen wollen. Leider ist Leia (aus obigen Gründen) nicht wach zu bekommen. Also fahren wir ohne sie.
Gegen 10:00 Uhr holen wir unseren Campervan ab. Ein Riesenschiff von 7,10 Meter Länge und 3,10 Meter Höhe. Dafür sieht er von innen ganz toll aus. Wir werden unseren Spass daran haben.

Montag:
Heute müssen wir uns von unserem Auto verabschieden. Wir fahren morgens zu Marg und Blue und leihen uns deren Zweitauto für die letzten Tage.
Danach fahren wir nach Paraparaumu wo wir unseren Wagen endgültig abgeben werden. Wir haben mit Peter noch ein tolles Gespräch und sind richtig froh ihm das Auto verkaufen zu können. In eineinhalb Jahren wird er nämlich nach Waikawa Beach zurückkehren. Dort baut er gerade ein Haus und so wird wohl unser Auto noch lange in dieser Region Read more [...]

Es ist halt ein Pferdebuchreihe. Eine Eisläuferin ist gestürzt und erhält neues Selbstvertrauen durch ein Pferd. Im zweiten Teil taucht ihr Vater auf und nimmt ihr das Pferd weg. Am Ende wurde der Hof neu eröffnet und alles wird gut.

Mal ein bisschen Hintergrund über die Region in der wir hier so lange gewohnt haben.
Beginnings
Die Gegend um Levin war eine der letzten Regionen, die in Neuseeland von weissen Siedler besiedelt worden sind. 1880 wurde eine Eisenbahnstrecke von Wellington aus nach Norden gebaut und die Grundstücke wurde von den Muaupoko Maori gekauft. Samstag:
Unser letztes Wochenende in Waikawa Beach. Am heutigen Samstag müssen erstmal alle ausschlafen. Die Skating Hall und die Youth Group gestern abend waren anstrengend. Der Morgen ist trotzdem einfach wunderbar.
May muss dann doch geweckt werden, weil sie ihr letztes Netball Spiel in Levin hat.
